The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) announces that due to forecasted heat and humidity, the following communities have opened cooling centers:

Middletown Middletown Library; 700 West Main Rd.; Mon. – Thurs., 9:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Narragansett Maury Loontjens Memorial Library; 35 Kingstown Rd.; Mon. - Thurs., 9:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.

North Smithfield Scouter's Hall; Main Street; Call 767-2206 for hours of operation.

Portsmouth Portsmouth Multipurpose Center; 110 Bristol Ferry Rd., Mon. – Thurs., 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The list of cooling centers will be updated at 4 p.m. today.
